What is the difference between a truck accident and an auto accident?

Auto accidents and truck accidents both have the potential to be extremely serious. Truck accident, though, are inherently more dangerous simply due to the size and power of the vehicle involved. There are several differences that one may find in a truck accident.

  1. Traumatic Injuries

When you see a commercial truck driving down the road, you are looking at a vehicle that may weigh close to 80,000 pounds if it is fully loaded. The car you are driving probably weighs about 3,000 pounds. Because of the difference in weight, a semi-truck packs more power than a passenger vehicle. The injuries sustained by the vehicle’s occupants during a collision can be severe.

  1. Causes of Accidents

A truck has blind spots all around it, unlike a passenger car. Trucks cannot maneuver as quickly or come to a stop as readily. All of these things can factor into a truck accident.

  1. Issues of Liability

When a truck collides with a vehicle, issues of liability are typically more complicated. The liability may lay with the driver, but it may also be placed upon the shoulders of the company that owns the truck or the company that employs the driver. In some cases, the manufacturer of the truck could be held liable.

Any person who is in a truck accident in Pensacola should seek the advice of an experienced attorney to determine what type of compensation they may be entitled to.
