An accident in Pensacola remained under investigation as police attempted to locate the offending driver. That driver fled the scene of the accident that took the life of a bicyclist. Police later located the vehicle, but were still looking for its driver.
According to reports of the incident, a man was riding his bike on Creighton Road at approximately 7:30 p.m. The man crossed behind a vehicle that was making a left turn at an intersection. The person on the bike was hit by a car that was traveling northbound on Ninth Avenue. The car did not stop at the scene, instead continuing north.
The man on the bicycle was transported to a local hospital. He ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries. Police, during the course of their investigation, were able to determine that the vehicle involved was a Dodge Neon or similar make. It had missing hubcaps and tinted windows. There was damage to the vehicle as a result of the accident, and pre-existing damage on the passenger side.
Police later located the vehicle they believed to be involved. They did not, however, locate the driver. Anyone with information about the accident is being asked to call the Pensacola Police Department.
