A woman who crashed into a home on Wildflower Lane in Pensacola was charged with attempted murder, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The woman injured three people, including a sheriff’s deputy, in the crash. She has officially been charged with attempted murder, attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence causing property damage, and driving under the influence and causing serious bodily harm.
According to the original police report, the woman was driving a Ford Explorer westbound on the lane. She accelerated toward a home on a cul-de-sac, sideswiped a vehicle on the side of the road and hit a parked car in a driveway. After she hit the parked car, she continued forward, striking the sheriff’s deputy, another bystander and then, finally, the home.
A woman was pinned between the SUV and the home. She had to be extricated from the crash site. The highway patrol did not release a suspected cause of the crash at the time of the accident. Originally, the accident was not attributed to alcohol. The sheriff’s deputy was at the home for a citizen assist call unrelated to the crash.
